It has been an interesting and challenging month since my last posting on this blog. The Christchurch Earthquake on 22 February has changed the landscape for everyone in Canterbury. I was proud of my staff in the way they handled the situation on that Tuesday afternoon and the way they cared for our children. Our thoughts are very much with the people who have been affected by the earthquake.
Slowly we have got back into the school routine. We held an awesome PRIDE Day last Friday where the children were presented with their 2011 Pride of the Plains tee shirts.
We had plenty of parents and caregivers join in games before our PRIDE assembly.
I spent some time in classes this morning - talking with children about their reading programme, the ice cream making one class had done, pie graphs, handwriting and leaf poems. One thing that was evident was that all children were engaged in the learning process.
Our Year 5 and 6 have started their practice for the Padder Tennis tournament they have in the last week of the term against Southbridge and Leeston.

We will be observing the public holiday on Friday in Canterbury. This is a day of remembrance for the victims of the Christchurch earthquake.
Take care.
