Great whole school Skype session with Bradley Shaw NZ Hockey star this morning.
Go for GOLD NZ Black Sticks!!
We found out that Bradley has been playing hockey for 27 years and has been in the Black Sticks for 10. He is very proud to represent New Zealand. His first tournament was in Pakistan where he only got on the turf for 30 seconds! He plays as a defender and has scored two goals for NZ. Bradley is also a teacher and needs the support of his family, friends and employer to be able to play international hockey.
After talking with Bradley he scored a goal in his next game in a 6-1 win. Unfortunately for the Black Sticks they lost their semifinal against India and then lost to England in the bronze medal play off in a penalty shoot-out.
Thank-you to Vicki Pettit (who works with Bradley) for making this session happen. And a BIG thank-you to Bradley for making himself available to talk to us during an important event for the national hockey side.
