Families Day 2015

I hope everyone who came along to our Families Day on Friday enjoyed themselves – it was a special day and it was cool to see everyone entering the spirit of the activities and the day. My staff and I, and I’m sure the children, appreciated having everyone involved. It was disappointing that the weather wasn’t overly kind.
A small part of our day was to officially open our new classroom and the new area between Rooms One and Two. I want to repeat the thank-you’s I mentioned on Friday - I would like to thank all of my staff and our children for their patience and understanding in Term One as these projects took shape. Constant hammering, limited teaching space and builders around the school meant our school had a different feel about it during term one. I also want to thank my staff and our children for their huge effort at the end of the term when we finally got the keys so we could move and set up classrooms our hall and the library. It was a military operation that ran very smoothly I felt. I would like to thank our contractor City Care and their sub-contractors for their work over the past six months. Thank-you to former Board Chair Chris Allington who provided his engineering work for no cost to the school. I would like to acknowledge and thank our architect Robin Vesty – it was pleasing that Robin agreed to undertake this work for our school as he was the architect for the Room 6 building in 2010. I would like to reserve the biggest thank–you for our Project Manager Steve Bailey. Steve has been working with our school for a number of years now. He ensures he get the best for our school and I appreciate his loyalty and dedication to our school.

It is great to have some space back around our school. If you haven’t had a look I encourage you to have a look when you are next at school.
