As I mentioned in last week’s newsletter written reports are coming home today with this newsletter. Written reports are provided twice a year. They will provide parents, caregivers and children with an overview of progress and achievement in Reading, Writing and Maths (National Standards Areas). Also included is where your child is working at in Wider Curriculum Areas covered in Terms 1 & 2 and General Comments including our PRIDE values. Please know that the teachers have very carefully chosen their comments around your child’s progress and next learning steps – these reflect their most important next piece of learning in that subject. To make judgement contained in the National Standard reports, teachers have to consider a wide range of information from tests and observations. Always keep in mind that we are concerned with developing the whole child. The three academic skills involved in National Standards are important, but so are a very wide range of other things. Information on Reporting to Parents at Dunsandel School can be found at http://www.dunsandel.school.nz/reporting-to-parents/
Our reports do go through a vigorous editing / proof reading process however mistakes still sometimes occur – should you find a mistake or typo in your child’s report please advise their teacher asap so this can be corrected immediately.
The following pie graphs show, based on Mid Year Report data, the percentage of children who are on track, at or above and who are at risk in each of the National Standards areas. The tables to the side show the break down, in percentages, for girls and boys. A full copy of this report can be found in the school foyer.
